You and I like to save old Christmas cards. I’ve saved some that I’ve sent over the years. That is, I sent them, but saved one to keep, too. Here are ten of my old favorite scenes. There are nice old designer names like Caspari and Marian Heath as well as some lovely ones by Hallmark, American Greetings and others. I’ll try to identify artists as we go along. (Click on photo to enlarge.)

artist Hazel Lincoln for Pictura, Inc

artist Michael Bingham for Hallmark cards

American Greetings

“Christmas at Home” by Christina Ladas for Pictura Graphica

Hallmark cards
Five to go—did you see a pattern? Snow, cozy, Christmastime . . .and the following are from earlier days:

Journey of the Three Kings from a woodcut of Hildesheim; Metropolitan Museum of Art

Marian Heath Greeting Cards

contemporary Peruvian Folk Art for UNICEF

“The Eugene Field House and Toy Museum” in St. Louis by artist Robert Hanselmann

artist Ursula Arndt for Caspari
When I look at these cards I can just about remember where we were living, what our lives were busy at, and many nice memories. That’s what Christmas cards are for because
“Never a Christmas morning,
Never the old year ends,
But someone thinks of someone
Old days, old times, old friends.” (Unknown)
