The Titusville Button Show September 2013

The New Jersey State Button Society held its meeting and show
in Titusville at the fire hall on Saturday, September 7.  I’ll share
with you the buttons I bought:
First, some glitz—that’s a heavy old rhinestone button, about
an inch in diameter (click on photos to enlarge).

And wasn’t I fortunate to find this nice group of crescents, moons and
stars?  The large button on left is about 1 3/8″ two piece metals.  If you
look carefully at button on right, you’ll see a flying owl . . .one of the little
ovals with stars is mother of pearl, the other plastic.  Boy, that mother
of pearl large crescent really steals the picture .  . .

I’m always drawn to the great celluloids and Bakelite buttons.  And I
added to my Marion Weeber collection with the little candle stand.
How do you like the golf bag??  That little red battleship is Bakelite.
The largest button is 2 1/2 inches.  Not sure what the fish is made of
but it’s nice.

The next photo is mostly buttons with “heads”.  Two are Liverpool
Transfer buttons—the white porcelain with Greek looking heads.
The brass one way up to the left is a little different–huge bonnet.
And those on the upper right are on velvet.

I’ll close with some miscellaneous metals.  I think the North and South
America button is from Colombian World’s Fair.   I like the “Jumbo
Make” button—don’t know what it’s from.  Someone will tell me.
