Vanity Fair —some illustrations by Charles Crombie

I have a wonderful copy of Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackeray.  It was published by Dodd, Mead and Company, Inc in 1924.

I love my copy because it has illustrations.  I love a book with illustrations—especially an old classic.   This book has 16 illustrations by Charles Crombie.

Let me share a few of them with you:

Becky moves up in society and comes into a family of very genteel connections

George Osborne comes back to Amelia

Osborne gives Becky her shawl and bouquet and something important besides

Rawdon returns from the sponging-house

Becky shatters Amelia’s idol

The Crawleys start married life on nothing a year

These are out of order from the book—don’t want to spoil any of the plot for  you.  Haven’t read it?  Don’t know Becky Sharp?  Perfect summer reading for you!!

Check your library for a great illustrated copy.  Enjoy.
