Everywhere, Everywhere, Christmas Tonight

I am wishing all of my new friends on “booksandbuttons” a very Merry Christmas.
I would like to share with you a favorite poem of mine, and some pictures of the
Christmas at our house this year.   Warm wishes –joy and peace in the New Year.

“Everywhere, Everywhere, Christmas Tonight!”

Christmas in lands of the fir tree and pine,
Christmas in lands of the palm tree and vine;
Christmas where snow-peaks stand solemn and white,
Christmas where corn-fields lie sunny and bright;
Everywhere, everywhere, Christmas to-night!

Bishop Phillips Brooks  1835-1893

a favorite-----the muff!

antique cardinal from the "antiques" collection

the corny old walnut Santa, a family oldie

antique wooly red mittens . . .

Vote for your favorite!!—-or spend more time gazing at your own tree tonight . . .

Manger from my mother-in-law, first year married. Looks like maybe a little granddaughter has been rearranging some of the cast . . .

Always a puzzle . . .and a plate of fudge . . .

old carnival pottery Santa from the 1940's----waiting . . .

And so, we’ll wait for Santa—  Merry Christmas to All, and to All a good-night.

    What beautiful photos of wonderful Christmas things! (what camera do you use to take such beautiful pics?) But I was thrilled to see the manger from your mother in law, my mom’s sister! I am pretty sure my mom’s was the exact same … I remember the ox, and donkey, and the shepherd with the lamb over his shoulders, the wise men, and the purple shirt on Joseph. I also remember that little lamb, who in our family was later replaced by a little plastic lamb. None of the pieces are with us anymore; long gone. So this was a great thing to see again. I vote for the manger! I also like the two angels on the sides. Very beautiful. Merry Christmas!

  2. the camera? Casio Exilim . . .and luck!
    Thanks for the comment—memories are one of the
    best things about Christmas. Glad I struck a chord.
