Rooster at the Garage Sale

When Woody and I walk in the park, we can usually hear a rooster crowing at a nearby farmhouse.  Recently I noticed a sign advertising
a garage sale there this weekend.  So Saturday morning found me there–
hoping to get a photo for you of the rooster.

It looked like a pretty good sale-

And then, when I was walking around, I spied the rooster—see him way
up in the right of the photo, in the driveway?  I hurried over to catch a
picture for you.

Eh!–in the shadows.  I wanted the sun shining on his feathers.

Nah–in the bushes.

Then the owner called “chick, chick” and scattered feed for the
brood, and he came running.

And I got this lovely closeup for you!
(I try not to look at his feet . . .)

Oh, what did I buy?  Well, books of course–  all oldies: Cricket on the Hearth, ($500 prize if you can name the author); two Peter Pan books by J.M. Barrie;  Women by Booth Tarkington; A Christmas Carol by Dickens; and Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.
and buttons . . .
and birds!
